1,200-Year-Old Tomb Uncovered in Panama Filled with Golden Treasures and Human Sacrifices

Panamanian archaeologists recently uncovered a 1,200-year-old tomb in the Coclé Province filled with golden treasures and victims of human sacrifice. The tomb was dedicated to a chief who died in his 30s, and it was also filled with the bodies of other people who were believed to accompany him to the afterlife. This discovery is significant because it represents a special type of burial involving multiple simultaneous burials. The tomb contained various gold items, earrings made from sperm whale teeth and crocodile-shaped earrings, bone flutes, skirts, and bracelets made with canine teeth. The excavation of the burial is ongoing, and it is yet to be determined how many people were buried with the chief.
