European Commission Launches Investigations into Tech Giants' Compliance with Digital Services Act

The European Commission has launched multiple investigations to ensure compliance with the Digital Services Act (DSA) by major tech players. LinkedIn, Google, Bing, and AliExpress are among the platforms under scrutiny. The DSA, adopted in 2022, imposes obligations on online platforms, and the Commission is now questioning their adherence to these regulations. LinkedIn and AliExpress are facing preliminary and formal inquiries, respectively, while other platforms have also been subject to similar investigations. The DSA targets the dissemination of illicit content, and very large online platforms are subjected to additional obligations. This is distinct from the Digital Markets Act, which focuses on ensuring fair competition in digital markets. Both acts designate companies based on size and market influence and impose specific obligations accordingly.
